on sunday i went with anna and a friend of her to artfarm, in the little village of drienovec, near kosice. the pictures are enough to see of special and particular this place is. and people who know my thing for "things" know how this is comfortable for me! this is a house for artists, very basically. it's a ten year project of a designer and a photographer who, together, conceived this wonderful place. it has indoors and outdoors spaces. this place has workshops on painting, recycling, and sculpture for artists. they can stay there for a week, the place has up to fourteen beds. sometimes they have as well workshops for non-artists. the incredible part was how they had so many many things, and all so organized that it didn't look untidy at all! all these could be used in the works! some ideas to recycle broken tools! they have as well a program for the roma children on the village. they made these walls all around the farm as well as some very good works of art. they went there voluntarily. it was like ten houses of your grandmother. in this farm there is as well the funniest museum of the pencil! yes, with that smell, ahh! and lastly, it was a real house where two people live. to very nice and friendly artists who gave me and anna a book just for being foreigners i think! i was really nice!
i love bratislava. and i went to kosice to visit my friend anna, from italy (and continuing the coincidences story, anna knows my twin sister catte, from genova). first of all, the journey bratislava-kosice has been the most beautiful i've ever made. it goes right through poprad and liptovsky mikolas and one can see the high tatras silouettes, the lakes and rivers...just beautiful. and of course that inside the IC train, i didn't even notice the 36º outside. oh west, 13€ for almost crossing a country, have i ever mentioned i love slovakia? so, on my first day there, miss sympathy anna introduces me to her friends, and we went out. kosice has plenty of life on the streets. well, the street. the city, although is the second largest city of slovakia, and future capital of culture in 2013, it is quite small. the centre consists of a big and large street, but all the buildings in it are very nice. here i started my mission: to find someone in kosice who likes bratislava. on friday, i wasn't successful. with a sunnier morning, on saturday we strolled around the centre. i started thinking that kosice could only be an italian colony! full of "italian" restaurants, "italian" ice creams and a real italian high school, it was a paradise for anna! it would be like if i moved to a city where: - if i was in a café the waiter would say "diga fáxabor"; - the ice creams had sardine flavour; - the market was full of women selling fish. kosice has a wonderful, magnificent cathedral. it has as well another beautiful church that i didn't capture, entirely painted with frescos. this is anna, kosice's 2013 miss sympathy! and after a capuccino we went to the cathedral tower. that has a very nice view! a lot of buildings in this main street are UNESCO heritage. we went as well to the market. and on sunday we went to a place that deserves a post by it's own.
but now for the conclusion: i didn't find anyone in kosice who liked bratislava. one would think that this is a kind of rivalry that every country has, like porto-lisboa, paris-marseille, madrid-barcelona (i'm not sure of these last two, but it makes sense). but it seems a bit stronger here. apparently the people from the capital are arrogant, and all the services are concentrated here. the two cities have very different energies, both lovely and interesting, they shouldn't be compared! ay ay ay, i think i need more visits to the east to understand this thing better. is the one that sends me to a scout camp in a beautiful hidden place, to play a game. yes, that was my task, play a game. i got the great oportunity to see how a slovak scout summer camp is, with all these wonderful tipi's and mega kitchens. i've learned a lot, the scouts were so nice and curious that the whole day was really a learning experience! wonderful place in selec, near trencin. the outfits, the organization may be different, but the games and the essence are the same no matter where!. and roleplay was so fun with these ruthless entrepreneurs and businessmen! thank you so much for the wonderful day!
(i miss my scoooouuutttsss!!!) brdárka is a little village near rosnãva, six hours from bratislava and thirty minutes from rosñava (in a super old skoda). because i am friends with mini and i met here t., and mini met t. in portugal, this crazy coincidence could only end in a portuguese meeting in little brdárka! of course that the meeting part, being mini, mini, was far from normal and was five hours delayed. speaking of coincidences, there is a fátima glass in the pensión in brdárka. tatranský caj could only have this recipient! and after a peacefull and quiet night, it was time to go outside, and what a beautiful day it was! the pensión is a full house, full of people from france, spain and italy, and in these weekend, a plague of lusitania people. we caught wild strawberries on our way up. breathe fresh air, hear the grass tried to find foxes and took some pictures. mini, what's up with the face? much better. tugália! for the campaign "don't abandon little portuguese people on your holidays" and up we went, and t. is ponting to brdárka and we got down and ate with the EVS family, vegetables from their own garden and we made bread played with the goats met "wonderfuuul" people made fresh pasta and drank port wine. the family portrait! the super chocolate cake we baked as well and the journey back. ah lovely brdárka! these were some wonderful three days. very relaxing, the nature around so untouched and beautiful, and once more, the country life. the country life is very good.
after that, checking timetables in bratislava is uber stressfull. thank you so much brdárka ludia! you were all very hospitable and friendly! (pictures by mini) this weekend i accepted an invitation and went to sekier, where s. and a. are doing their EVS. there was the festival on the meadows 2010 and it seemed a great one, so off i went with marie! the ecovillage of Zajezová has a visitor house called Sekier, where anyone could go to experience life on the meadows. i'm glad i went there. i missed this, the nature, the games, the dances, the music. the kids walking around barefoot. and it was a bit revolutionary as well. i don't know. i would like to come back. and this was the 40minute way to the nearest bus stop. beautiful...
