the "72 hodin bez kompromisu" happened already this past weekend! three days of a volunteering marathon nationwide ended in a better slovakia, with cleaner areas and prettier spaces. the projects were around 320 all across the country and they were all really great. our opening happened in trnavské myto, the most dirty and ugliest place in bratislava. why? it was already a project. our oppening was part of a project submitted by a youngster who decided to clean trnavske myto! and so, by the sound of music and photocameras (it had a very big media coverage - maybe because of the celebreties in overalls, maybe not) we all cleaned! there were about fifty people scrapping papers and cleaning graffities. it is now much much better! and in other places in slovakia the projects were very diverse! some repaired a playground; others cleaned and painted the cemetery's wall and gate; other taught funny ways of recycling; others cleaned green areas; others put new colors in the school! as you can imagine, in the end it is very rewarding to see all these projects happening, and to read that people would like to repeat it already next year!
You didn't know where to go
Walking around in this flag-waving town I saw you waiting for a train And you disappeared Your face pressed up to the window You went so far away And I want to come there too I want to be with you I'm just waiting until you say these words : "Come back, come back, come back, oh, to me... I'm living near Gdansk, there's a train, you'd be here soon There's a life for me and you The East means so many things But it could be home, it could be home, it could be home For you and me It could be home, it could be home, it could be home, it could be home Come back, come back, come back, oh, to me..." And if you'd ever say these words I'd come to you, where you are It's too hard to be apart The East's not so far away And it could be home, it could be home, it could be home, For you and me It could be home, it could be home, it could be home, it could be home Come back, come back, come back Oh, to me... have you got your project already? 72h is so close! check all info in www.72hodin.sk or befriend our facebook page!
last week we went to voices show. i'm glad i did, although at first i was not very excited about it. the concept is great and i have never seen it before! so, voices happen periodically and it's aim is to either promote events, or show videos about new things happening. in the middle, you can always listen to live new music. the thing i was most excited about was with this cardboard furniture made by a slovak designer. it is really, nice, cheap, ecological and lasts up to ten years. can you imagine moving your house with this? great, here is the website if you're curious. and these are "the uniques", which are very good. and a link for a video about "moustache", a band from dunajská streda.
fortunatelly bratislava is a wine area. i'm happy not because of the wine, but because there is burciak before the wine! burciak is the "mosto" or the wine that still didn't fully fermentate. we drank white one, it was just like juice, delicious! so l. and r. invited me to a wine fair near karlov vés. i took s. and o. who were here on a visit. it was a real old fair like we have in s.joão or anywhere in august, yummy, the chewing gum music, the plastic toys, the food, the wine. loved it! after three bottles we were quite happy with anything, but it was really a great afternoon, in great company!
