tadah!!
last week i finally got the results of our first attempt with a black and white film in our pentax. we've used an ilford 400 and the development had to be manual, it took a long time and it has some dirty things on top, but, it looks really soft and nice. i hope the people on the pictures don't mind me showing! i will tell a bit of each one. this is on my traditional dances class, that i have every wednesday night. the second girl is liliana, the teacher, and the fourth girl is cátia. you cannot find a single picture of cátia where she is not totally ready for the flash, it's incredible. here we are in svbvra, a roman themed bar in braga. this is maria and rita, and we were all waiting for 00h00, time for lili's birthday and cake! in here we have a very happy liliana, waiting for the 30s the one and only luís florêncio, setting the timer in his camera, that i destroyed hours after - but it still works! this one was taken in my room, by luís. i already had a comment saying "gradma joana" so, go ahead. luís packing this one was in cape espichel. i think luís took this one, we still didn't know how it would look exactly so we were trying to make landscapes as textured as possible. two very typical men in a bifana's trolley. bifana is basically a thick stake on bread. this is a view from the castle of sesimbra. i have never been in this place and the view is really nice and the city really steep into de sea! the sea a grocery store i wanted to capture the man inside the cafe but right behind be there was this van trying to go through the road with the engine turned off. so, i took my time - i didn't listen to any noise and i basically ignored luís saying "joana, the van. joana, there's a van behind you. joana, hurry up!". anyways, it should've been better, the picture, with all the time i took. the bridge behind me is a very famous symbol of lisbon as it resembles a lot to san francisco's red bridge. this is after we saw the museum of popular art. taken by luís, this has this crazy bubbly effect an effect luís wanted to make, although it looks like the smoke is coming from the chimney, it's actually a cloud. and i was just happy to capture luís and a sex shop.

sorry for the cornyness of the video, but it was the most dynamic way of showing the pictures i took the other day in oporto.
oporto is the second biggest city in portugal, after lisbon. i never know which city i like the best, they are both very particular and genuine. people from oporto are loud and funny, and the streets are so steep and narrow, it's beautiful. actually, the best part of the journey when i return from lisbon is when i get to oporto and see the "ribeirinha" and its clothes on the hanger. this time i used the pentax indoors and the results were not that satisfying. however, i really enjoyed these warm portraits! i just need to practice and practice!
the plan was to drive all the way to lagos, in algarve - south of portugal - and there, celebrate the new years' eve. the plan was fulfilled and registered in the first film my new bff had. still tryting to understand what the buttons said, i think me and luis did a good job, the landscape and the camera did an awesome one. i will show you some of our journey's moments! this was our lunch break in the middle of alentejo this is the same break, in the same place, but in the female version then we stopped in zambujeira do mar. it's a little village by the sea. the sea, it has been a while. i've always said i've never been a sea enthusiast - the mountains give me the peace and infinity normally the sea gives to people - but...the smell of the sea is overwhelming. and this is the place where we spent some days. peacefull as one could wish. this is a very typical house from the south of portugal (tourist information service moment!) on the well, my dear deer luis this was taken in beliche beach, between sagres and cabo de s. vicente. this area was where all the adventurous portuguese set off to discover new worlds in the XVth century! and this was today, in a foggy lisbon, before i head back to braga.
