on saturday we went to the museum of our best political cartoonist! you can see some of his great work in drawing and ceramics, we really liked it a lot! and it would be great if some reincarnation of him would come again. we need some witty cartoons! he was the inventor of the "zé povinho" character, supposed to represent the portuguese people: suffering but quiet, happy with a bit of food and wine.

i've been dying to tell you about the silliest christmas tradition in braga: o bananeiro. every 24th december in the end of the afternoon, hundreds of people start gathering in front of the house of the bananas. having been in braga for two days, believe me, i found 3 friends in 20 minutes and saw a lot of people i knew! EVERYBODY comes here, to do what? the warm up for the big eating: everyone EATS A BANANA and drinks MOSCATEL, a sweet wine. yep, banana and wine, doesn't sound very christmas-y to anyone, but hey, we can't complain the environment is really funny and light. and it really prepares us for an entire night of eating!
last week we went to voices show. i'm glad i did, although at first i was not very excited about it. the concept is great and i have never seen it before! so, voices happen periodically and it's aim is to either promote events, or show videos about new things happening. in the middle, you can always listen to live new music. the thing i was most excited about was with this cardboard furniture made by a slovak designer. it is really, nice, cheap, ecological and lasts up to ten years. can you imagine moving your house with this? great, here is the website if you're curious. and these are "the uniques", which are very good. and a link for a video about "moustache", a band from dunajská streda.
