i was really happy when i saw these yesterday. after some years using a 35mm adapter, luís bought some 120mm films and this is the result! always better!
got this idea inspired in two very similar pictures to turn them into a drawing/collage me him tadah!
this documentary was awesoooome!!
it was incredible because it was a real story of a group of scientists - anthropologists i think - who decided to go to papua new guinea with the goal of knowing the place and inhabitants and of knowing an unmapped area of the island. in 1959, when it was shot, some places and rivers didn't even have a name. when they got to the coast they were quite well received by the villagers, headhunters rather violent in their daily life. they were there for the rituals and filmed everything. the communications was hard, and the way of life was extremely hard and very primitive. some villagers didn't yet use iron tools! but their task was to go to a completely unknown region. and it took them seven excruciating months to do that. in very high altitudes, between malaria, injuries, deaths they eventualy got out of the map because in the interior no villager would help them. by accident, they reach the other side of the island and consider their work done. it was really really interesting to see a discovery happening in front of our eyes, in the 20th century. sort of what our ancestors did when they arrived to new places. the beggining looked a bit fake, the narrator was too dramatic i think, but the real story was as real as possible, with the food disappearing in the river, and people dying out of tiredness... i just loved it! i believe it won an oscar as well. - portugal has requested finantial help to europe and IMF. that implies a harsher life on almost everyone. how will we all repay 80 billion euros i do not know, and i'm afraid to. - my jobhunt has been quite proactive but not successful. the conversations about unemployment are frequent and the master holders in call centers as well. - last week i had the best conversation ever with the director of image's museum in braga. they will organize a couple of exhibitions in bratislava so i contacted them. as for that, no budget is available to pay an extra helper, but he mentioned they will eventually need someone to help them organize the yearly photography meeting in braga. - i am teaching teenagers together with a friend . they will participate in a roman fair that happens in the end of may and we will teach them two roman/greek dances. - yesterday i went to the town hall to speak about the european capital of youth that will happen in braga in 2012. i had previously send them three ideas for projects. the conversation went very well and i heard nice things about my previous experiences etc. anyway, i don't think anything will happen after that. - one of my best friends will open an educational centre. besides helping students, it'll have other activities and a psychology office. she mentioned she needs help for the reception+extra activities and i definitely said yes. so, i don't know when but i have this nice job offer kind of guaranteed. i feel that this only happens because we're friends, and if we didn't know each other, i would have to spend really a long time looking for a job. things are really hard right now. - when luís first looked for a job last year he got two job offers in a very short time. now, after sending circa 50 CV's to job vacancies, he has received one answer. one in fifty. what is this lack of respect? so, our plans of being closer are quite late. - today i researched how to download this website, as a souvenir. i will end with it in a few weeks. there are a lot fo tools to have an offline website, if anyone's interested. - they days are really hot and sunny. this weekend i went to an evaluation meeting about the evs. it was really much better than i was expecting, it was really fun.
the best part was that we were around 50 ex-evs, all very interventive and full of suggestions. on sunday the national agency came to listen to our suggestions and i really got the feeling that they will do something about somethings. if someone is interested, here are my impressions: - i was so lucky with my evs, that everything went so great, that i dind't know how i would react if everything went wrong like it went with a lot of people. - i got the idea that the non-eu countries with non accredited organizations are quite tricky. a girl didn't receive any money, had to work in fish shops to get some, and the ngo wouldn't pay her way back, really bad. - a lot of volunteers went to countries in africa, like angola, mozambique, cape vert and s.tomé e prinícpe. really interesting their experiences. i learned a lot about how sometimes african countries depend way too much on voluntarism and don't develop any entrepreneurship among their inhabitants. and how living with no electricity or warm water for a year can really change your mind about our daily "luxuries". - macedonia is completely crazy country. - the main suggestions were to put more pressure on the sending organization to analyse how good the hosting organizations is; to create a sort of ranking of ngo's, like couchsurfing; to set as a rule that the volunteer should have linguistic support starting in the first month in the country, etc. but the best moments were this informal ones where we would just talk about funny things that happened, how the greeks are so slow, the macedonians so crazy, how the brazilians think the portuguese don't bathe and are all bread-makers ehhehe. really nice. yesterday i finished treme, a tv series about the post-hurricane katrina in new orleans.
it's always filled with great music and color, really nice, mainly because of the music last saturday me and luís went to nuestros hermanos, in vigo, to see a concert by ted leo and the pharmacists.
my brother says that gy!be left him with the ears hurting but i don't remember. so i will name this concert the noisiest i've been ,leaving me with a "biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" in my head until next morning. anyway, i enjoyed it more than i was expecting, we were really close, the venue was no full of people, they were really nice and the frontman even spoke great spanish and made an effort to speak in gallician! really nice, glad we went there! |
