the cooks: yuliya and jarka the food: borsch (east-slavic soup) and proja (serbian corn bread with cheese). the main dish was my beloved mussaka! and cheesecake was the first success of the oven!
yesterday was a national holiday so i went finally to devin castle with jarka and yuliya! one can easily get there with bus 28 or 29, and it's only 20 minutes away from the centre of bratislava. it is closed from november on but yesterday was specially open, and we were almost the only ones there, it was a great morning! the whole morning was very misty and it gave a particular ambiance to the visit we visited the church and then we made alittle walk to dubravka great great, we should have more mornings like this one!
anthony was the last survivor of joana's hostel during the weekend. to celebrate this great accomplishment, he invited us for a delicious gnocchi! with potatoes, flour, salt and bryndza cheese, we made a strong and really good meal that i still remember now! i wonder where will i find bryndza in portugal. i think i'll need a secret exporter!
the day after the event was as well very fun. because most of the EVS came from different cities, they decided to stay a few more days to get to know bratislava a bit better. so we went to the castle where we met with everyone took a group photo! and then went to slavin, a memorial building for the soviet soldiers of wwII high up on bratislava. and while some waited for a train, we danced in the train station!
johfra and juraj knew i collect mugs, so they offered me the perfect one for my birthday!
you can write on it!! this was the little movie we showed in the exhibition. it was shot by me in the journeys i made during the year, and some were shot by yuliya, who did all the editing! so the day of my personal project arrived! during this time i had been gathering pictures from the EVS in slovakia to show them in an exhibition in bratislava. after the pictures printed - for free! - it was time for the juri to make a decision about the winners and with everything set up and the help of my dear friends and colleagues, everything worked out peeeeerfect! we started with a little traditional dances workshop so that we could get to know each other in a different way people laughed a lot and enjoyed it. i was happy. then it was time to announce the winners. i was happy. my yu-yu after we all sat down to see the documentary about the EVS in slovakia. they clapped. i was happy. the whole night i was happy. and very proud. i was with my friends and a lot of EVS came! I hope I will not forget any, but I met EVS from: bratislava, kosice, brdárka, nitra, velký meder, trencin, banská stiavnica (one even came from budapest!).
and after, we went out for a bit and after, joana's hostel hosted 10 people! whoo-hoo!! thank you so much for coming and for helping! PICTURES HERE we took an analog camera for our holidays. it was a minox 35 ML lented by a friend of ours. fortunately, it was a bit dirty and it made this great effect on all pictures! no doubt that analog is much funnier luis for starosta the band of the bridge cutchi cutchi and these pics come from the supersampler i've had during summer and only now developped them (with 50% discount!) from the 72s competitions in the festivals from a sunny day in koliba from a serbian dinner from a trip to brno from a sightseeing day in bratislava from the blue church from a burning petrzalka
i had a great birthday. sunny and calm. with more walking than it should but with great eating and great company! i had the amazing oportunity to see luis trying bryndzove halusky, hehehehe and this is from the days after. after viena and prague our days here were very homey. we cooked and eat. and luis even discovered a new talent :)
